In conjunction with SG50, Husk’s Ware launched this SG Heritage Shophouse ‘Tingkat’ Carrier at Singapore Gifts & Premiums Fair 2015. With only one guideline of designing a container with an SG50 theme, design student Michelle Kartokusumo’s unique design, inspired by the Peranakan shophouse, was chosen from a total of 23 student design entries to emerge the blueprint for this special yet practical memorabilia. Comprising 3 separate compartments with individual lids, all secured together with the red silicone strap and handle, this ‘Tingkat’ is perfect for bringing food out on a picnic or presenting goodies and snacks for visitors at home or in office, in great style! Made from rice husks, it is also free from harmful materials and is able to withstand high and low temperatures, ensuring everybody’s safety.

Rice husk is an agricultural waste that is commonly burnt in the fields after rice harvests, producing large amounts of carbon dioxide and causing severe air pollution. Husk’s Ware gives this waste material a new lease of life by turning it into a natural resource and making it into trendy, reusable and biodegradable tableware and cutlery.
